The World Trade Organization is a global non-profit organization. Found and located in Geneva, Switzerland, the World Trade Organization or WTO, is tasked with the goal of overseeing and maintaining all policies involved with trade.

The World Trade Organization was founded at the end of the 20th century in the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union. At this time the world was on the brink of a technological revolution and many nations wished to have partners for trade in the major industries that were about to spring up. It was firmly established by the Marrakech agreement, stating that no member country can be joined to one agreement made in the organization without being bound by all others. The formation of this organization was for one single purpose- to increase globalization in the world. The organization revolves around the use of negotiation to help reach this goal in the international trading community. The organization, located in Geneva, Switzerland, allows for an open forum where members of the 159 current member nations can for laws and rules for exchange.

The organization has gained through donation an active budget of 219,977,464.00 U.S. dollars to use in implementing assistance in technical training and the monitoring of nations following the laws set in the organization. The organization, though without any military force, has the power to influence other nations to take up action against those going against trade policies. As a whole, one should respect the power and responsibility the World Trade Organization has taken up in the world.
